Major General G G Dwivedi, SM, VSM & BAR, retired as Assistant Chief Integrated Defence Staff (strategic) in 2009, after 38 years of distinguished service in the Army (Infantry). A Veteran of Bangladesh War 1971, later he commanded units/formations in Siachen, Kashmir Valley and North East. Besides vast operational experience, he held important staff, instructional assignments and foreign assignments (decorated and commended five times).
He holds PGDM (HR), dual M Phil in Defence & Strategic Studies from Madras University and Ph D in International Relations from JNU, New Delhi. Besides Interpretership in Chinese from the School of Foreign Languages, he obtained ‘Art & Practice of Leadership Development’ and Senior Executives Global Programme in International Security from Harvard Kennedy School; ‘Leadership in Public Life’ from Kansas Leadership Centre, USA. An alumnus of National Defence College, he has been faculty at Indian Military Academy Dehradun and Defence Services Staff College Wellington; served as Defence Attaché in China, Mongolia & North Korea. He was instrumental in formulation of numerous concept papers and doctrines as the Head of Doctrine/Strategic Branches.
Since 2013, he has been Professor and Chairperson, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) where he teaches Masters Courses in West Asia, Conflict Resolution & Peace and supervises Ph D/M Phil research scholars. As Coordinator he steered the process of establishment of new Faculty of International Studies at AMU and was Founder Chairperson, Department of Foreign Languages. He has introduced new courses- “Art & Practice- Leadership” and “CSR” in Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management (LBSIM); facilitated starting M Phil in Strategic Studies at Punjab University Chandigarh.
He is a Visiting Faculty at Foreign Services Institute Delhi, Himachal Institute of Public Administration, Management Development Institute Gurgaon, Punjab University Chandigarh and Boston University; is a resource person foe UGC HRD Centers of leading Central Universities.
He has authored/edited five books; published over 50 articles including book chapters on Geo Strategy, National Security and Leadership, besides over 60 short pieces, in the leading professional journals and national dailies.Member, of renowned think tanks and Institutes, he regularly guest speaks at premier Centers of Excellence both in India and abroad; appears frequently on National TV as a panelist
